Q&A

Zzjimi Individual User Accounts :

How do I delete my account?

At the bottom of your Profile page you will find the delete account button.  Please allow a few days for your request to be processed.

I have special requirements how do I know if the Activity/Event Organisers can accommodate me?

Just look at the detailed event listing and you will see if it can cater for your needs.

Zzjimi's primary ethos is to try to encourage people of all ages and abilities to participate in activities, and by doing so, help reduce their feelings of loneliness, isolation or boredom, besides this, the site highlights opportunities which enable you to live your dreams or undertake personal or professional development.

We believe we are one of the few, if not the only, activity site at the moment, which requires our Organisers to specify if their event is accessible, and uses this information as part of the search function, to meet your criteria.

If you cannot find sufficient detail on the listing to answer your query, you can always contact the Organiser directly. Their details are on the listing itself.

How can I be sure my personal details are safe?

We use high-level encryption, secure storage methods and abide by GDPR requirements to ensure all our data is kept as safe as possible.

Please look at our Privacy and Cookies policies, which will give you full details of how we use your data and how we keep it safe.

Still need some help?  Contact us at: admin@zzjimi.com

I have registered an account but I still cannot login, why is this?

Once you register an account, Zzjimi will send an activation email to the email address you specified when registering. You need to respond to this email for your account to become active.

Only once your account is activated, will you be able to login.

Please remember to check your spam/junk folder in case the email from Zzjimi has ended up there.

Once your account has been activated you will need to complete your registration before you can fully use the site.

How do I set up my  Zzjimi Wishlist?

You will find clear instructions in our Help page, which you can access from the bottom of any page of our site.

Further details can also be found in the 'Create a Wishlist' section in the How To Menu.

What does the box ‘Keyword Search/Tags' mean?

To match your requirements more precisely our unique Zzjimi SmartSearch© algorithm enables you to add specific words for us to search, e.g. you may have Fundraising as a main category and within that you may be most interested in doing a sky dive, a mountain hike or fun run …etc., or you may want to take part in local Community events and specifically quizzes or bake sales or even knitting groups – the list is endless and up to you.

But put these into the 'Keyword search/tags' box and Zzjimi will try to find Charities, Organisations and groups who have listed events with these words and which are looking for people to participate in these events or to help them out.

We aim to give all Charities, Organisations and Groups etc., registered with us, a 'One-Stop Shop', in which their events are matched to the needs of the Users' Wishlist.

Once your Wishlist has been set up, Zzjimi will continue to search and match in the background, no need for you to keep returning to search again -- as soon as a matching event is listed Zzjimi should let you know - Think of Zzjimi as your Virtual Assistant!

What's more because you have specified your criteria, the possiblity of getting notifications for unwanted activities/events is greatly reduced.

We believe Our approach will also provide a platform for smaller Charities, local groups and others to showcase their activites. Many of them do not run big events but smaller ones like quizzes, bingo, fetes, or need help in kitchens/shelters etc., they are always looking for individuals to become more involved, so why don't you give it a go, meet and make friends old and new…

Our ethos, focus and algorithm are the main ways, we consider, that Zzjimi will give all its users a greater choice and get us all 'Shimmy-ing' to something new, exciting or just to help alleviate loneliness and isolation.

But remember the more focussed keywords you use, both as an individual or as an Organisation, the fewer but more specific your search results will be, the broader your words or the fewer you use, the more results and more diverse opportunities you may be shown.

Further details on keywords and tags can be found in the 'Create a Wishlist' section in the How To Menu.

Can I pick more than one option within the menus in the Wishlist setup page?

The Age preference allows you to select one or all ages that apply, so you can click once on an age group to select it and again to deselect it. You can select as many or as few as you need.

The other preferences only allow for a single slection, however if you have no real preference then just selct the 'All..' option and this will provide all activity/event options for that preference.

The 'All..' setting is also the default setting, so you can leave it as it is without making any selection too.

Further details on setting your preferences can be found in the 'Create a Wishlist' section in the How To Menu.

How many Zzjimi Wishlists can I have?

There is no limit to the number of Wishlists you can set up, just give them different names so you can keep track of them.

You can have one for your business, one for the family, one for the ‘two of you’ or you can set up one for volunteering or for those fundraising activities you’ve always wanted to do, how about one for those items on your Bucket List?!

Why not set up a Wishlist for a friend, relative or neighbour who does not have access to the internet, and tell them when Zzjimi finds something for them - just a little bit of Kindness on your part and Zzjimi will do all the hard work for you!

Don't forget to set up a Wishlist for your pets too!.

Zzjimi is your ‘Oyster’ – why not go crazy and Think it, Dream it and... DO IT!

How do I setup my Zzjimi Account?

Setting up an account is easy and FREE

On the top menu of any page, you will find the 'Log In/Sign Up' option. Select this, click on 'Register' and complete the information required. Remember to tick the box to confirm you have read the Zzjimi Policies.

Once you click the 'Sign up' button you will receive an email to which you must respond, in order to activate your account.

Following activation, you must complete your registration by filling in the information on your profile page.

Once registered you can set up your Wishlists (as many as you want). Then just wait for Zzjimi to match acitivities/events to your Wishlist and notify you.

Further details can be found in the 'Register an Account' section in the How To Menu.

You do not need to set up an account to be able to use the basic search options Zzjimi has to offer, however you will not be able to use all of Our Site's special features if you do not set up an account.

Does it cost anything to have a Zzjimi User account?

No, anyone can have a FREE Zzjimi account.

We believe, offering free accounts will encourage more people to participate and enjoy doing so, whilst at the same time supporting their community or favourite Organisation.

Our Mission is to help reduce loneliness and isolation, by supporting Organisations and Charities to draw people to them whatever their size or type of event. Our Zzjimi SmartSearch©  has made personalised searching easier, more fun and most importantly underpins our ethos of encouraging inclusion.

If you are an Organiser/Organisation you can also list your activity or event on Zzjimi for free, if you opt for our standard listing. However, if you would prefer a Premium Listing we do charge a small fee. Contact admin@zzjimi.com to find out more about our rates and the benefits of a Premium Listing.

I have a registered User account, why do I keep getting an error message when I try to post an activity?

In order to post an activity/event you must be registered with an Organiser/Organisation account. Unfortunatley, individual Users are not permitted to post activities or events on Zzjimi.

The activities/events that I can see are limited or old ones why is this?

It is possible that your browser cache which is related to your browsing history is restricting you from seeing other activities.

We suggest you try to clear the history/cache of the browser you are using prior to accessing the Zzjimi site again or maybe try accessing your account using a different browser e.g. Safari/Mozilla Firefox/Google Chrome.

You can find out more about clearing your browser history/cache here: 'How to clear your history in any browser'.

Zzjimi Organiser/Organisation Accounts :

How do I post an activity/event listing?

Full details of how to post an activity, can be found in our Help page and in the 'Post an Activity/Event' section in the How To Menu.

As an overview, the process involves inputting an event title, and event image (please ensure your image complies with dimensions given), the main and sub-categories, the accessibility, age groups and Keywords/tags. Then specifying any ticket costs.

When creating a listing ALL fields marked with an asterisk are mandatory.

When adding an image please ensure that you have the authority to do so, including holding any copyright licences or requirements.

Zzjimi does not accept any responsibility for images uploaded, and reserves the right to remove any images which contravene our Terms & Conditions for Listing policy. Please ensure that you have read this policy as it will be deemed that you have done so and accepted the terms once you post an event.

Keyword search/tags: These are any words or phrases that you believe may improve our matching of the event to the User's Wishlists. Keywords/tags need not be the same words that have been used in the event title, category or sub-category fields, in fact using other words could enable more people to find you.

You must separate each word or phrase by a comma and a space to enable the search to function correctly.

The more specific keywords you use, the higher the chance of being found by Users who are aware of these terms/words, and who have also used them within their Wishlist critera. This will obviously present your activity/event to a much more targeted participant, whereas the more general your keywords the more chances you have of attracting a wider more diverse audience and possibly presenting your event to those unaware of your organisation. There is no limit on the number of keywords/tags you can use.

If you really want your event to stand out from other similar listings, then our Premium Listing option could be your answer. Contact us at admin@zzjimi.com to find out more.

Adding the event date(s):

Enter the start and end dates and times for the event.

If your event recurs over a number of days or specifically throughout a time period, and you need to clarify some of the details, selecting the 'This is a recurring event' box will bring up a calendar which will enable you to specify exactly when your activity/event will recur.

You can add details for your event by using the add Schedule and Host options if you want.

You can add different ticket prices if you wish.

If you are selling tickets through your own website or another ticketing site (e.g. Ticketmaster, Eventbrite) add the URL for the site and Zzjimi will direct your participants to that site. Zzjimi is not a ticket selling site and accepts no responsibility nor involvement in the contract  between you and your ticket seller, nor that between you and anyone purchasing your tickets.

Once you are happy with the data you have inputted, remember to save your listing.

How do I delete my Organiser/Organisation account?

At the bottom of your Organisation Profile page you will find the 'Delete' button. Clicking on this will delete your account. Please remember that if have any listings linked to your account these too will be deleted. Please allow a few days for your request to be processed.

Does it cost anything to have a Zzjimi Organiser/Organisation account?

No, anyone can have a FREE Zzjimi account.

In fact you can have an Organiser/Organisation account and a separate User account at the same time, though you will need separate appropriate email addresses for each. Why don't you give it a try!  See how Zzjimi can advertise your event and at the same time find activites/events of interest to you too.

We want Organisations and Charities to be able to draw people to them whatever their size and the type of event. Our Zzjimi SmartSearch©  has made personalised searching easier, more fun and most importantly supports our ethos of encouraging inclusion.

We believe it will bring more people to your event, especially those who have expressed a particular interest in your type of activity/event, but may not specifically know of your Organisation.

If you are an Organiser/Organsation you can list your activity or event on Zzjimi for free, if you opt for our standard listing.

If you would prefer a Premium Listing we do charge a small fee. Contact admin@zzjimi.com to find out more about our rates for Premium listings and what added incentives a Premium Listing could give to your activity/event.

How do I set up an Organiser/Organisation account?

When you first register with Our site, you will be asked if you are an Organiser/Organisation, if you click on this option you will be taken through the Organiser/Organisation's registration process.

You will have the opportunity to set up a profile, in which you can include some basic details about yourself or your Organisation, and any other contact details you want the user to have. You can also link your profile to your web page and any social media account you wish.

Details of setting up an Organiser/Organisation account can also be found in the 'Register an Account' section of the How To Menu.

I have registered my Organiser/Organisation account but I cannot login to my account, why not?

Once you register an account, Zzjimi will send an activation email to the email address you specified when registering. You need to respond to this email for your account to become active.

Only once you have done this, will you then be able to login to your account.

Please remember to check your spam/junk folder in case the email from Zzjimi has ended up there.

Once your account has been activated you will need to complete your registration before you can fully use the site.

Enjoying a Zzjimi Activity/Event :

Why am I not receiving or seeing activities/events near to me?

This may be because you have not given Zzjimi permission to access your location. If you did not grant this when you first accessed the site, Zzjimi will not know where you are!

Zzjimi has a number of different distance limits from your location, for the various search options:

  • On the home page the radius is 50 miles.
  • Pot Luck has a radius of 30 miles
  • Within the the Wishlist and the refined search options you have the ability to specify your distance limits -from under 5 miles to All distances.

Whichever one is used, the only way that Zzjimi can retrieve results for you is if you initially gave permission for location access. Depending on the server you are using you will find options either on the address bar or within the preferences to allow Zzjimi to access your location.

If you cannot find this option, clear your browsing history and the next time you access the Zzjimi site you will be asked to give your permission for Zzjimi to access your location.

To find out how to clear your cache/browsing history click here: 'How to clear your history in any browser.'

How can I find activities/events for me?

There are a number of ways to find activities/events on Zzjimi.

  • When you first access the Zzjimi site, the Home page will highlight activities/events within a small radius around your location that organisers have listed, as long as you have given the site permission to access your location. These are sorted according to distance and in chronological order. You can change the sorting order if you wish.

  • You can register an account. In doing this you will be given an opportunity to set up one or more search profiles, known as your ‘Zzjimi Wishlists’. Zzjimi will then use its Zzjimi SmartSearch© algorithm to find any events which match (as closely as possible) your Wishlist criteria. These will be stored in your Zzjimi Dashboard (My Account > My Dashboard). The events shown in the results section are the matched results for the highlighted Wishlist.  A green counter informs you of how many results are in that Wishlist. To view a different Wishlist just click on its name.  You can further sort how you view the results.  You can also click on the heart icon in any event listing to make it a favourite and add it to your calendar as a reminder for you.

Why don't you register an account now and see the power of Zzjimi to help you Think it, Dream it.. and DO IT!

  • You can also enter some basic preferences in our quick search bar and we will find activities and events to match these criteria. Make sure you choose the best option from the Google Maps dropdown menu for the location you want. The results will be in a 50-mile radius from the location specified. You can refine your search criteria once your initial results are displayed, using the boxes on the left hand side of the page. When using this search method you must input the location from where you wish the search to be carried out.

  • Finally and most excitingly, you can press our ‘Pot Luck’ button found on the Quick search dropdown menu, and Zzjimi will suggest nearby events for you to do today… you could be surprised by the results but do you feel brave enough to give it a go? Pot Luck results are within a 30-mile radius from your location - once again, you must have given the site permission to access your location for the Pot Luck to function correctly.

Further details of all the search options can be found in the 'Search on Zzjimi' section of the How To Menu.

If an event is repeated throughout the year, how can I get notified of these recurrances without needing to keep searching?

The best way to get notified is to set up a Zzjimi Wishlist. The Wishlist can be for a single event or it can be as broad as you want.

By entering the area(s) of interest and keywords/tags which apply, you have control over what Zzjimi finds for you! Once set up Zzjimi will notify you, according to your set preference, of events you may be interested in.

At the top of the My Wishlist page (found in the My Account menu), you will notice an option to set up activity/event notifications. This will allow Zzjimi to notify daily, weekly or monthly of activity/events occurring that either match your Wishlist search criteria or that you have marked as a favourite. If the organizer is repeating a similar event again you will automatically recieve a notification - no need to miss your chosen acivities/events!

Zzjimi will continue to work for you when you are busy, away from your laptop or mobile and even while you're on holiday or sleeping..!

How do I contact an activity/event Organiser?

Zzjimi is a self-managed on-line site to enable people to find activities/events they wish to try, or be included in, and for activity Organisers to be able to promote their activity/event.  So activity organisers have full control of their listings, and you will be able to find relevant contact details specified within the activity/event listing.

Once you have contacted the Organiser give them a little time (we suggest 4 – 5 days) to reply.

If after this time you have not heard back, then do contact us and we will endeavor to connect you with the Organiser.  Please note we may not be able to answer specific questions about the event, but we will try to get the Organiser to contact you.

If you have to contact us please specify:

  • When you contacted the Organiser (if you have not done so already please try this before contacting us).

  • Your e-mail address (this should be the e-mail you gave to the Organiser).

  • Your reason for needing to contact them (if possible and only if you are happy to tell us).

  • The activity/event reference number (which you will find in the Activiy/Event listing itself)

Zzjimi's focus in on volunteering, fundraising and community activities and events, and on showcasing those events and activites run by charities and community organisations. However, we do not wish to exclude events which require you to purchase tickets as we believe in giving you the best possible choice in doing or becoming involved in something. We also want to make it easier for you to spend more time participating in something you really want to do, rather than spending it on your own or just surfing the net!

Still need some help? Contact us at: admin@zzjimi.com.

Can I save activities/events for future reference?

When you find an event you like you can mark it as a favourite and then these will be stored in your Zzjimi Diary for you, for future.

Your Zzjimi Diary is found in your own dashboard,  so you can see what you've already taken part in and what exciting things are still to come!

Premium Listings :

What is a Premium Listing?

A Premium Listing is a listing that enables the Organiser to make their activity/event more noticeable to users.

Our Premium Listings are not only found in the normal way - within the category the Organiser put them in, via the location or quick search methods, or retrieved within a Users' Wishlist when the criteria match, but they are also given a prominent position - within the Dropdown menus. The number of listing in a dropdown menu is limited, so your listing will definitely be on the 'Short List'!

The Dropdown menus are rotated regularly so your Premium Listing will get prime viewing.

Premium Listings costs are for a minimum of 1 week. Extended times can be purchased in weekly blocks.

For further details regarding Premium Listings, including current costs please email admin@zzjimi.com .

How do I set up a Premium Listing?

You can setup a standard listing on Zzjimi for free. It does not matter if it is for a paid or free activity/event, currently Zzjimi does not intend to charge for setting up a standard listing.

However, if you would like more prominence for your listing and make it more noticable, then you can opt for our PREMIUM LISTING OPTION.

The details for setting up a Premium can be found in Part 16 of our Terms & Conditions for Listing Policy.

Setting up a Premium Listing requires a separate agreement with us, to facilitate your Premium Listing requirements.

Please e-mail us at admin@zzjimi.com for information on costs etc., or to set up a Premium Listing.

Miscellaneous :

Why am I not getting any results from the refined searching criteria when I use the Quick Search bar?

In order to get results when refining your Quick Search options you must specify the location from which you want the search to be carried out. This must be your best choice from the Google Maps dropdown menu.

You can then specify the distance radius from that location to set your search criteria within.

Using the refined search, you can also add more than one Search Term (but separate each with a comma and a space), and even a specific date for which you are interested.

Finally, you can select all the categories in which you are interested.

For more details of the various search options on Zzjimi check out the 'Search on Zzjimi' section of the How To Menu.

You do not need to set up an account to use the basic seach options on Zzjimi, however to make best use of our special site functions you do need to register with an account. All Zzjimi accounts are FREE.

Can you explain more about the Spotlight page?

Our Spotlight page is where we provide you with general information about our site and post feature articles about the Organisations on it, activities/ events or other news which maybe of particular interest.

On it we can showcase exciting upcoming events or even let you know how well an activity/event went.

If you are an Organiser who would like us to showcase your event or to provide us with a feature article for this page, please contact us at  admin@zzjimi.com for further details.

I am seeing events over 50 miles away, why is this and how can I change this?

There could be two reasons for this, either you did not give Zzjimi permission to access your location when you first went onto the site or some browsers have a default setting which block location permissions for all websites.

You can either go to your browser settings and change this to give the Zzjimi website permission to access your location, or you can use the quick search bar and refining options to specify your location and set the distace radius from where you wish events to be found.

The following link may help you too: 'How to clear your cache/history in any browser'.  Once you have done this you should be asked for location access the next time you use Zzjimi.

For Zzjimi to work best, it does need to know your location.

The pre-set distances for each search option from your location are:

Home page - 50 miles

Pot Luck - 30 miles

Quick Search and Wishlists according to your specifications.

Why are you called 'Zzjimi' and how do you pronounce it anyway?!

Part of our mission at Zzjimi, is to enable people to make a move, both figuratively and literally from a position of loneliness, isolation or inactivity. At the same time we recognised that many Charities, community groups, organisations and others are always looking for people to come and join them, to help fundraise, volunteer or just have fun and to get much needed support. We decided to put the two together.

But for many, 'taking part' may not be running a half marathon or doing a sky dive, they may only want to take a small step, a 'gentle nudge' - a 'Shimmy' really....., and that is where we come in. Our site aims to meet the needs of the individual and Organisations from an innovative perspective. We do not believe another site currently tries to meet these needs in the way we do at Zzjimi.

We want to support you to participate, as much or as little as you want, we believe you should be able to ....

Think it, Dream it and... DO IT!

Oh, and how do we pronounce our name - well, there is a clue above, but if you need more help try this:

It's not pronounced "ZZ-Jimi" like "ZZ-Top",

And if you're saying "Zim-me" then please stop..

Still wondering how to say it, then try as you might,

Just say "Shimmy" and you'll be quite right!

Hope that helps!

Paid Events & Activities :

Can I give or transfer my tickets to someone else?

You will need to contact the ticket seller site and/or Event Organiser for their T&C’s on this issue.

How do I buy tickets to a paid event?
